Resource Packs vs Shader Packs
Resource packs and shader packs are different.
Resource Packs
Usually modify assets such as:
- Textures
- Models
- Sounds
- Fonts
- Other visual resources
Shader Packs
Modify Minecraft’s rendering pipeline and can directly affect how TRP’s lighting systems appear.
TRP uses its own integrated rendering and shader systems, so external shader packs have a significantly greater chance of affecting:
- Volumetric beams
- Projections
- Depth
- Transparency
- Lighting
- Performance
External shader compatibility is covered separately under Shaders.
Custom Gobos
TRP’s Custom Gobo system should not be confused with a resource pack.
Custom Gobos are created and stored dynamically by TRP.
Players can:
- Draw a gobo
- Import PNG images
- Import SVG images
- Select engraving quality
- Create a custom projection mask
Available engraving resolutions are:
- Low — 64 × 64
- Medium — 96 × 96
- High — 160 × 160
- Ultra — 256 × 256
The resulting mask is stored on the engraved gobo item and dynamically used by compatible fixture renderers.
No external resource pack is required for player-created Custom Gobos.
Multiplayer
TRP assets come from the mod installed on each client.
For multiplayer, TRP must therefore be installed on:
- The server
- Every connecting client
A server-side resource pack alone cannot replace the required TRP client installation.
TRP is not designed as a server-resource-pack-only lighting system.
