Using Layers While Drawing

Layers can be changed while you are actively building or editing a Drawing.

This lets you place different parts of the design at different relative depths without leaving the editor.

Change Layer During Editing

While editing, change your selected hotbar slot.

NeonFX uses hotbar slot changes to adjust the current relative layer offset.

Continue Drawing on the New Layer

After changing the layer, continue placing or editing geometry normally.

The active layer offset is then used for the current editor positioning.

When This is Useful

Changing layers while drawing is useful when:

  • One part of a design should sit slightly in front of another
  • Separate sections overlap
  • You are building a multi-depth sign
  • Different visual elements need their own depth

Layers Do Not Create New Objects

Changing the layer does not create a new Drawing or Tube.

It only changes the relative positioning used while editing the current design.
