Using Layers for Overlapping Geometry

Layers are useful when different parts of a NeonFX design overlap or sit very close together.

By changing the active layer, you can place geometry at a different relative depth without creating a separate Drawing.

Separate Overlapping Parts

If two Tube sections occupy nearly the same position, change the current layer before placing or moving one of them.

While editing, changing the selected hotbar slot adjusts the relative layer offset.

Keep the Design Together

Using another layer does not split the design.

The geometry can still remain:

  • Inside the same Drawing
  • Inside the same Tube or another Tube
  • Controlled together with the rest of the Drawing

Common Uses

Layers can help with:

  • Overlapping letters
  • Borders around signs
  • Front and back details
  • Decorative shapes that cross each other
  • Multi-depth logo designs

Combine with Manual Positioning

Layers control the relative depth, while nodes and handles can still be moved manually.

Use both together when you need more precise control over overlapping geometry.
