Refresh Speed

The flashing speed is controlled by the Refresh setting.

StrobeLights measures refresh speed in:

ticks / phase

Minecraft normally runs at 20 ticks per second.

A complete flash consists of:

ON phase
+
OFF phase
=
1 complete flash

For example, a refresh value of:

10 ticks/phase

means:

10 ticks ON
10 ticks OFF

resulting in approximately:

1.00 flash/s

Speed Examples

RefreshApprox. Flash Rate
1 tick/phase10.00 flashes/s
5 ticks/phase2.00 flashes/s
10 ticks/phase1.00 flash/s
20 ticks/phase0.50 flashes/s
100 ticks/phase0.10 flashes/s
1200 ticks/phase~0.01 flashes/s

Lower values create faster strobes, while higher values create slower strobes.

Adjusting the Speed

Inside the strobe editor:

Left Click
Makes the strobe faster by -1 tick.

Right Click
Makes the strobe slower by +1 tick.

Shift + Click
Changes the refresh value in steps of 100 ticks.

The default configurable range is:

1 – 1200 ticks/phase

The GUI also shows the equivalent approximate flash rate.

For example:

5 ticks/phase · 2.00 flashes/s
