Fixture Interaction

Fixtures in Theatrical: Realistic Pack (TRP) are interactive blocks with their own configuration, status and management systems.

Most day-to-day fixture setup can be performed directly from the fixture itself using its built-in physical display.

Opening the Fixture Interface

Interact with a fixture using an empty hand to open its configuration interface.

TRP fixtures use a custom three-page physical display interface inspired by professional ROBE lighting fixtures.

From this interface you can access the main configuration options required to prepare the fixture for operation.

Available Configuration

The common fixture interface provides access to:

  • Theatrical Network
  • DMX Universe
  • DMX Start Address
  • Fixture Mode / Personality
  • Lamp Mode
  • Display Brightness
  • Display Enabled / Disabled
  • Pan Invert
  • Tilt Invert
  • Pan / Tilt Reset
  • All Reset

These settings are stored persistently with the fixture.

Theatrical Network

A fixture can be assigned to a Theatrical Network.

This is the logical lighting network used by TRP to organise fixtures and other lighting devices.

When a fixture belongs to a network, access to its configuration respects the network’s membership and permission system.

A player who is not authorised for that network should therefore not be expected to have unrestricted access to the fixture configuration.

Universe

The fixture’s Universe determines which internal Theatrical DMX universe it listens to.

When using Art-Net or sACN through a TRP Rack Node, this should correspond to the generated Theatrical universe assigned to the appropriate rack port.

The universe works together with:

  • Theatrical Network
  • DMX Address
  • Fixture Personality

to determine where the fixture receives its control data.

DMX Start Address

The DMX Start Address defines the first channel used by the fixture.

The selected fixture personality determines how many channels are used after that address.

For example:

Address: 1
Footprint: 39 channels

uses:

Channels 1–39

Changing the fixture personality can change this footprint.

Fixture Mode / Personality

Each fixture provides one or more operating modes.

The selected personality determines:

  • Available DMX functions
  • Channel layout
  • Channel count
  • Fixture footprint

TRP includes both compact personalities and much more detailed model-specific modes depending on the fixture.

Always use the individual fixture documentation to check its available modes.

Lamp Mode

Fixtures provide three common Lamp Mode options:

  • Standard
  • Quiet
  • Power

The selected mode is stored as part of the fixture configuration.

Physical Display

The fixture’s rendered display is part of the actual fixture model.

Its brightness can be adjusted between:

20% and 100%

and the display can also be completely enabled or disabled.

The display can visually represent operational states including:

RESET

PLEASE WAIT

NO DMX

This makes the fixture itself useful for checking basic operating status without opening additional management tools.

Pan Invert

Pan Invert reverses the fixture’s Pan movement direction.

This is useful when fixtures are mounted in opposite orientations or when matching a specific programming workflow.

Tilt Invert

Tilt Invert reverses the fixture’s Tilt movement direction.

Like Pan Invert, this can be useful when fixtures are physically mounted in different orientations.

Pan / Tilt Reset

The fixture interface includes a dedicated:

Pan / Tilt Reset

This resets the movement system without requiring a complete fixture reset.

All Reset

The:

All Reset

option performs the fixture’s broader reset operation.

During reset behaviour, the physical display can show states such as:

RESET

or:

PLEASE WAIT

depending on the fixture state.

NO DMX

If a fixture is not receiving valid control data, its display can show:

NO DMX

This normally indicates that the fixture is not currently receiving the expected DMX data.

Common things to check include:

  • Theatrical Network
  • Universe
  • DMX Address
  • Fixture Personality
  • Rack routing
  • Art-Net / sACN input
  • External controller output
