What is a Tube Profile?

A Tube Profile defines the cross-section shape used to render a Tube.

The profile changes how the Tube looks around its path, but it does not change the path itself.

Available Profiles

NeonFX currently includes two Tube profiles:

  • ROUND
  • SQUARE

Both profiles use reusable resource-pack models that are transformed in-game to match the Tube’s position, direction and diameter.

Profile and Path

The Tube path is controlled by nodes and Bézier handles.

The profile is applied around that path.

This means you can change the profile without rebuilding the Tube geometry.

Profile and Thickness

Profile and thickness are different settings:

  • Profile controls the shape.
  • Thickness controls the size.

A ROUND and SQUARE Tube can follow the same path while still looking completely different.

The next articles explain each profile separately.
