DMX Universe

A Universe is a group of up to 512 DMX slots.

Fixtures inside the same universe use different starting addresses so that each fixture receives the channels intended for it.

For example:

Fixture	Universe	Address	Footprint
MegaPointe 1	1	1	39
MegaPointe 2	1	40	39
MegaPointe 3	1	79	39

The first fixture occupies channels:

1–39

The second begins at:

40

and the third begins at:

79

The exact footprint depends on the selected fixture personality.
