Moving to a Different Minecraft Version

Moving from one Minecraft version to another should be treated as a migration, not as a normal TRP update.

For example:

  • Minecraft 1.20.1 → 1.21.x
  • Minecraft 1.21.x → 26.1
  • Minecraft 26.1 → 26.2

This process may require changes to:

  • Minecraft
  • Forge
  • Java
  • TRP
  • Dependencies
  • Other installed mods
  • Configuration files
  • World data

Do not simply replace the TRP .jar with a build intended for another Minecraft version.

Before attempting a Minecraft-version migration, create a complete backup of your world and installation.

Compatibility of existing worlds between different Minecraft and TRP branches is not guaranteed.

Always check the release notes for the target version before migrating.
