MegaPointe

The ROBE MegaPointe is a hybrid moving beam/spot fixture implemented in Theatrical: Realistic Pack (TRP).
Its TRP implementation combines smooth movement with colour, gobos, prisms, focus, zoom, frost, dimmer and shutter/strobe control, making it suitable for both aerial beam effects and projected pattern work.

Official GDTF Profile
ROBE publishes official GDTF fixture profiles through its manufacturer library on GDTF Share. For MegaPointe, search for:
Robin MegaPointe
We recommend using the profile published by Robe Lighting s.r.o. rather than a community-created version whenever possible. ROBE specifically recommends its official GDTF files for the highest compatibility and accuracy.
The GDTF profile can be used in compatible lighting consoles, visualisation software and other applications that support the GDTF standard.

The MegaPointe is one of the fixtures in TRP with support for the Custom Gobo Service system and dedicated functional flight cases.
DMX Modes
The MegaPointe currently includes the following TRP personalities:
| Mode | Channels |
|---|---|
| Theatrical | 7 |
| Mode 1 | 39 |
| Mode 2 | 34 |
| Theatrical Gobos | 10 |
The selected personality determines both the available controls and the fixture’s DMX footprint.
For example, when using Mode 1 at DMX Address 1, the fixture occupies 39 consecutive channels.
The exact channel-value ranges for each function should be documented separately from the verified fixture personality data.
Implemented Functions
The MegaPointe implementation includes:
- Pan and Tilt
- Smooth movement
- Dimmer
- Shutter / Strobe
- Colour control
- Static Gobos
- Rotating Gobos
- Gobo projection
- Gobo movement effects
- Focus
- Zoom
- Frost
- Prisms
- Prism / effect movement
TRP renders these systems as part of the fixture’s optical and movement behaviour rather than treating the fixture as a simple animated model.
Fixture Configuration
Interact with the MegaPointe using an empty hand to open its physical fixture display.
The common TRP fixture interface allows configuration of:
- Theatrical Network
- DMX Universe
- DMX Start Address
- Fixture Mode
- Lamp Mode
- Display Brightness
- Display Enabled / Disabled
- Pan Invert
- Tilt Invert
- Pan / Tilt Reset
- All Reset
The display can also show operational states such as:
RESET
PLEASE WAIT
NO DMX
Configuration access respects Theatrical Network membership when a fixture belongs to a network.
Custom Gobos
The MegaPointe supports TRP’s Custom Gobo Service system.
Its serviceable gobo inventories contain:
- 10 Static Gobo slots
- 9 Rotating Gobo slots

New fixtures initialise these wheels using their factory layouts.
To service the fixture, use the Gobo Service Screwdriver.
This opens the gobo management interface, where compatible factory gobos or player-created custom gobos can be installed and removed.
Custom engraved gobos are not restricted to the MegaPointe’s original factory artwork library and may be installed in compatible serviceable wheels.
Focus Tool
The MegaPointe is compatible with the Focus Tool.
This allows it to be included in multi-fixture focusing operations such as:
Point Mode
All selected fixtures are aimed toward one selected point in the world.
Two-Point Span Mode
Selected fixtures are distributed between two selected points and automatically aimed across the resulting span.
The Focus Tool can also provide automatic or manual focus, zoom and intensity assistance.
RoboSpot & FollowMe
The MegaPointe is not currently compatible with either:
- RoboSpot
- FollowMe
These systems are only enabled for explicitly supported fixture models.
A fixture being a moving head does not automatically make it compatible with TRP’s tracking or remote-followspot systems.
Flight Cases
The MegaPointe has two dedicated functional flight cases:

- MegaPointe ×2
- MegaPointe ×4
These cases are functional transport systems rather than decorative blocks.
They support:
- Opening and closing
- Matching-fixture loading
- Fixture storage by count
- Unloading
- Movement as a pushable / grabbable case
- Placement back into the world
A MegaPointe case can only load the matching fixture type.
Important: Flight cases store the number and type of fixtures inside them, not the complete individual NBT data for every stored fixture.
Unique fixture settings such as patch data or installed gobos should therefore not be assumed to survive storage inside a flight case.
Rigging & Mounting
The MegaPointe can be mounted on compatible TRP and recognised rigging structures.

Supported mounting systems include:
- TRP F34 truss
- Theatrical truss
- Theatrical rigging pipes
- Recognised Theatrical Extra Lights structures
- Recognised SEF quad-truss variants
TRP’s F34 system supports top, bottom and side/rail fixture mounting.
The MegaPointe also supports the Truss Mount Tool.
On compatible horizontal F34 side mounts, the physical mounting angle can be adjusted from:
0° → 120°
in:
15° increments
This changes the physical mounting orientation and should not be confused with DMX Pan or Tilt.
Known Limitations
- RoboSpot is not supported.
- FollowMe is not supported.
- Flight-case storage does not preserve full per-fixture NBT.
- Exact DMX value-range charts are not included on this page unless separately validated against the implementation.
- Visual behaviour can vary depending on the selected TRP graphics configuration.
