ESPRITE

The ROBE ESPRITE is a moving profile fixture implemented in Theatrical: Realistic Pack (TRP).
Its TRP implementation combines detailed colour mixing and correction, static and rotating gobos, animation and effect functions, focus, zoom, frost, prism and iris control with smooth pan, tilt and output behaviour.
The standard ESPRITE supports TRP’s Focus Tool y el Custom Gobo Service system, but is not currently compatible with RoboSpot or FollowMe.

The ESPRITE implementation is built around detailed profile-light functionality, including colour correction, projected gobos and several optical effects.
DMX Modes
The ESPRITE currently includes the following TRP personalities:
| Mode | Channels |
|---|---|
| Theatrical | 7 |
| Theatrical Gobos | 10 |
| Mode 1 | 49 |
| Mode 2 | 42 |
| Mode 3: + Green | 50 |
| Mode 4: + Green | 43 |
| Mode 5: Enhanced Gobo | 51 |
The selected personality determines which fixture functions are exposed and the total DMX footprint occupied by the fixture.
The + Green personalities expose the additional green-correction functionality available in the TRP implementation.
Mode 5: Enhanced Gobo expands the personality with additional gobo-related control.
The compact Theatrical y el Theatrical Gobos modes provide simpler alternatives when the full fixture personality is not required.
Exact DMX channel-value ranges are not included unless separately validated against the complete fixture personality.
Implemented Functions
The ESPRITE implementation includes:
- Pan and Tilt
- Smooth movement
- Dimmer
- Shutter / Strobe
- Colour mixing
- Colour correction
- Green correction
- Static Gobos
- Rotating Gobos
- Gobo indexing
- Gobo rotation
- Gobo effects
- Animation / Effect functions
- Focus
- Zoom
- Frost
- Prism
- Iris
- Fixture-specific special functions
The exact controls available depend on the selected DMX personality.
Fixture Configuration
Interact with the ESPRITE using an empty hand to open its physical fixture display.
The common TRP fixture interface allows configuration of:
- Theatrical Network
- DMX Universe
- DMX Start Address
- Fixture Mode
- Lamp Mode
- Display Brightness
- Display Enabled / Disabled
- Pan Invert
- Tilt Invert
- Pan / Tilt Reset
- All Reset
Available Lamp Modes are:
- Standard
- Quiet
- Power
The physical display can also represent operational states such as:
RESET
PLEASE WAIT
NO DMX
When the fixture belongs to a Theatrical Network, configuration access respects that network’s membership and permissions.
Custom Gobos
ESPRITE supports TRP’s Custom Gobo Service system.
Its serviceable gobo inventories contain:

- 9 Static Gobo slots
- 7 Rotating Gobo slots
New ESPRITE fixtures initialise these serviceable wheels using their factory layouts.
Use the Gobo Service Screwdriver on the fixture to open its wheel-management interface.
From here, compatible gobo positions can be inspected, replaced or cleared.
Factory Gobos
Factory gobo items can only be installed when the selected wheel supports that artwork as part of its factory texture library.
Custom Gobos
Player-created engraved Custom Gobos can be installed in compatible serviceable positions without being restricted to ESPRITE’s original factory artwork.
Removing a gobo returns its item to the player.
The configured wheel contents are stored persistently with the fixture.
Focus Tool
ESPRITE is compatible with the Focus Tool.
This allows one or multiple ESPRITE fixtures to be selected and aimed together using TRP’s multi-fixture focusing workflow.
Point Mode
All selected fixtures are aimed towards one selected world position.
Two-Point Span Mode
Two world positions define a target span.
TRP spatially sorts the selected fixtures and distributes their aim points evenly between those positions.
The Focus Tool also provides:
- Auto Focus
- Auto Zoom
- Output Assist
- Manual Focus
- Manual Zoom
- Manual Intensity
Up to 32 compatible fixtures can be stored by the Focus Tool at once.
RoboSpot & FollowMe
The standard ESPRITE is not currently compatible with:
- RoboSpot
- FollowMe
This is an important distinction from the ESPRITE FS variant.
The ESPRITE FS has its own TRP implementation and compatibility rules and should not be treated as identical to the standard ESPRITE for followspot operation.
Flight Cases
There is currently no dedicated ESPRITE flight case implemented in TRP.
Only fixture models with explicitly implemented matching flight cases can use TRP’s dedicated flight-case storage system.
Rigging & Mounting

ESPRITE can be mounted on compatible TRP and recognised rigging structures.
Supported systems include:
- TRP F34 truss
- Theatrical truss
- Theatrical rigging pipes
- Recognised Theatrical Extra Lights structures
- Recognised SEF quad-truss variants
TRP’s F34 system supports appropriate:
- Top mounting
- Bottom mounting
- Side / rail mounting
- Compatible fixture orientations
ESPRITE also supports the Truss Mount Tool.
On compatible horizontal F34 side mounts, the physical fixture angle can be adjusted from:
0° → 120°
in:
15° increments
This changes the fixture’s physical rigging orientation and is independent from DMX Pan and Tilt.
Known Limitations
- RoboSpot is not supported on the standard ESPRITE.
- FollowMe is not supported on the standard ESPRITE.
- ESPRITE and ESPRITE FS have separate compatibility rules.
- No dedicated ESPRITE flight case is currently available.
- Factory gobos remain restricted to compatible wheel libraries when using Custom Gobo Service.
- Exact DMX channel-value ranges are not included unless separately validated against the complete personality implementation.
