WTF!

The ROBE WTF! is a large multi-element moving wash, strobe and effect fixture implemented in Theatrical: Realistic Pack (TRP).
Its TRP implementation combines multiple RGBW zones, individually controlled RGBW pixels and dedicated white pixels into a single fixture capable of wash, strobe, pattern and high-density pixel effects.
The fixture contains:
- 2 RGBW Zones
- 16 RGBW Pixels
- 12 White Pixels
Its personalities range from a relatively compact Simple Wash mode to a complete 140-channel Full personality.

WTF! is currently the only one of the 20 implemented TRP fixtures that is not compatible with the Focus Tool.
DMX Modes
The WTF! currently includes the following TRP personalities:
| Mode | Channels |
|---|---|
| Mode 1: Simple Wash | 32 |
| Mode 2: Enhanced Wash | 44 |
| Mode 3: Effect | 64 |
| Mode 4: Pixel | 106 |
| Mode 5: Full | 140 |
Mode 1: Simple Wash is the default personality in the reviewed implementation.
Unlike many other TRP fixtures, WTF! does not currently include a compact Theatrical personality.
The selected personality determines how much control is exposed over the fixture’s different lighting elements.
Mode 1: Simple Wash
A more compact 32-channel personality intended for basic wash operation.
Mode 2: Enhanced Wash
Expands the wash functionality to 44 channels and provides greater control over the fixture’s multi-element output.
Mode 3: Effect
A 64-channel personality focused on the fixture’s broader effect functionality.
Mode 4: Pixel
The 106-channel personality provides much more detailed control over the fixture’s individually represented light sources.
Mode 5: Full
The largest WTF! personality currently implemented in TRP.
At 140 DMX channels, this mode exposes the most complete combination of wash, effect and pixel functionality.
For example, a WTF! using Mode 5 at Address 1 occupies:
Channels 1–140
Because of its large footprint, only three complete 140-channel WTF! fixtures can fit inside a single 512-channel DMX universe without crossing into the next universe.
Exact DMX channel-value ranges are not included unless separately validated against the complete fixture personality.
Implemented Functions
The WTF! implementation includes:
- Pan and Tilt
- Smooth movement
- Dimmer control
- Shutter / Strobe functionality
- RGBW colour control
- Multi-zone wash control
- Individual RGBW pixel control
- Individual white-pixel control
- Effect personalities
- Pixel personalities
- Full multi-element operation
- Fixture-specific pattern and effect behaviour
The exact controls available depend heavily on the selected DMX personality.
RGBW Zones
WTF! contains 2 RGBW zones.
These allow portions of the fixture’s main wash output to be controlled independently rather than treating the complete fixture as a single colour source.
The simpler personalities focus more heavily on this wash-oriented behaviour.
RGBW Pixels
The TRP implementation represents 16 individual RGBW pixels.
The larger Pixel and Full personalities expose significantly more detailed control over these sources.
This allows programming such as:
- Individual pixel colours
- Multi-colour effects
- Pixel chases
- Alternating patterns
- Gradient-style looks
- Complex multi-element effects
The exact DMX behaviour depends on the selected personality.
White Pixels
In addition to the RGBW elements, WTF! contains 12 individually represented white pixels.
These form a separate part of the fixture’s multi-element effect system and can participate in the more detailed effect and full-control personalities.
The combination of:
2 RGBW zones + 16 RGBW pixels + 12 white pixels
makes WTF! one of the most complex multi-source fixtures currently implemented in TRP.
Fixture Configuration
Interact with the WTF! using an empty hand to open its physical fixture display.
The common TRP fixture interface allows configuration of:
- Theatrical Network
- DMX Universe
- DMX Start Address
- Fixture Mode
- Lamp Mode
- Display Brightness
- Display Enabled / Disabled
- Pan Invert
- Tilt Invert
- Pan / Tilt Reset
- All Reset
Available Lamp Modes are:
- Standard
- Quiet
- Power
The physical display can also represent operational states such as:
RESET
PLEASE WAIT
NO DMX
When the fixture belongs to a Theatrical Network, configuration access respects that network’s membership and permissions.
Custom Gobos
WTF! does not support TRP’s Custom Gobo Service system.
It does not use a serviceable conventional gobo wheel.
Its advanced functionality is instead based around:
- RGBW zones
- RGBW pixels
- White pixels
- Wash control
- Strobe functionality
- Multi-element effect control
Focus Tool
WTF! is not compatible with the Focus Tool.
This is an exception within the current TRP fixture library.
Of the 20 fixtures implemented in the reviewed version:
19 support the Focus Tool.
WTF! is the only exception.
The fixture must therefore be positioned using its normal DMX movement controls rather than TRP’s multi-fixture Focus Tool workflow.
RoboSpot & FollowMe
WTF! is not currently compatible with:
- RoboSpot
- FollowMe
These systems are only enabled for explicitly supported fixture models.
Flight Cases
There is currently no dedicated WTF! flight case implemented in TRP.
Only fixture models with explicitly implemented matching cases can use TRP’s dedicated flight-case storage system.
Rigging & Mounting

WTF! can be mounted on compatible TRP and recognised rigging structures.
Supported systems include:
- TRP F34 truss
- Theatrical truss
- Theatrical rigging pipes
- Recognised Theatrical Extra Lights structures
- Recognised SEF quad-truss variants
TRP’s F34 system supports appropriate:
- Top mounting
- Bottom mounting
- Side / rail mounting
- Compatible fixture orientations
WTF! also recognises the Truss Mount Tool.
On compatible horizontal F34 side mounts, the physical fixture angle can be adjusted from:
0° → 120°
in:
15° increments
This changes the physical rigging orientation and is independent from DMX Pan and Tilt.
Known Limitations
- Focus Tool is not supported.
- Custom Gobo Service is not supported.
- RoboSpot is not supported.
- FollowMe is not supported.
- No dedicated WTF! flight case is currently available.
- The Pixel and Full personalities require very large DMX footprints.
- Mode 5 occupies 140 consecutive DMX channels.
- Large numbers of WTF! fixtures using detailed pixel output can substantially increase DMX complexity and rendering workload.
- Exact DMX channel-value ranges are not included unless separately validated against the complete personality implementation.
